Ticket Release Timeline

Based on how previous Olympic host cities have handled ticket sales, here's what we expect for LA 2028:

2026 — Now
Interest Registration Opens

LA28 is expected to open an interest registration portal, similar to Paris 2024's "Join the Waitlist" system. Register now on la28.org and sign up on this page for our alerts.

Early 2027 (Expected)
Official Sales Announcement

LA28 announces ticket categories, pricing tiers, and the sales calendar. Expect tiered pricing from budget-friendly (team sports heats) to premium (Opening Ceremony, Men's 100m Finals).

Mid 2027 (Expected)
Ballot / Lottery Phase Begins

High-demand events like Opening Ceremony, Athletics Finals, and Basketball semifinals are typically sold via a lottery/ballot system to prevent scalping. Register in the ballot to be considered.

Late 2027 (Expected)
General Public Sales Open

Remaining tickets go on sale to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis. This is when the rush happens — be ready with your payment info at launch time.

2027–2028
Resale Market Opens

Once primary sales end, StubHub, Viagogo, and other resale platforms will list available tickets. Expect significant markups for Finals and Opening/Closing Ceremonies.

July 14, 2028
The Games Begin — July 14, 2028

Opening Ceremony at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Last-minute tickets sometimes become available on the official exchange platform in the days leading up to events.

What to Expect on Pricing

Paris 2024 ticket prices ranged from $24 for qualifying rounds to $980+ for Opening Ceremony seats. LA 2028 will likely follow a similar tiered structure:

Budget Events — $30–$80

Preliminary rounds for team sports (handball, volleyball, field hockey), judo, weightlifting, and wrestling. Great value, great sport — and venues are often easier to reach.

Popular Events — $80–$250

Gymnastics, swimming heats, athletics track events (non-finals), soccer quarterfinals, basketball rounds. The sweet spot for serious Olympic fans.

Premium Events — $300–$800+

Swimming Finals, Athletics Finals (100m, marathon, etc.), Basketball Finals, Gymnastics All-Around. High demand means higher prices — especially for US team events.

Ceremonies — $500–$2,000+

Opening and Closing Ceremonies at LA Memorial Coliseum are the hardest tickets to get. Expect extreme demand — ballot entry is strongly recommended.

Resale Market — For When You Miss Primary Sales

If primary ticket sales are sold out, legitimate resale platforms offer a secondary market. Always use reputable sites that guarantee delivery and offer buyer protection. Note: Resale prices are typically 2–5x face value for high-demand events.

StubHub

The largest US ticket resale marketplace with FanProtect buyer guarantee. Set up price alerts for LA 2028 events now.

Ticket FAQ

Can I buy LA 2028 Olympic tickets right now?

No. As of 2026, tickets have not been released. LA28 is expected to open a registration system in 2026–2027, with full sales in mid-2027. Sign up for our alert above to be notified.

How do I get tickets for the Opening Ceremony?

Opening Ceremony tickets are extremely limited and will almost certainly be sold via a lottery/ballot system. Register on la28.org as early as possible and enter every ballot you can. Resale prices will be very high.

Which events are easiest to get tickets for?

Preliminary rounds for sports like handball, field hockey, volleyball, archery, and shooting tend to have more available tickets. These events offer a great Olympic atmosphere without the pressure of sold-out Finals.

Are there multi-event packages or day passes?

Paris 2024 offered session packages and multi-session options. LA28 will likely offer similar bundles. Stay tuned — we'll cover all package options when details are released.

What's the best way to avoid getting scammed?

Only buy from la28.org (official), or established resale platforms like StubHub or Viagogo that offer guarantees. Avoid Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or any seller requiring cryptocurrency payment.

Will I need to show ID with my ticket?

Paris 2024 required ID matching the ticket holder name for certain events. LA28 has not confirmed their policy yet — we'll update this page when details emerge.
